After preparing the body and lifestyle, our scriptures also give importance to the time, state of mind and surroundings in which conception takes place.
The central idea of Garbhadhan Sanskar is that conception should be a conscious decision rooted in love, prayer and awareness.
According to Acharya Charaka and traditional guidance, both partners should be calm, happy and loving at the time of conception. Dusk, midnight and midday are not considered suitable. The hours between 9 and 11 at night and 4 and 6 in the morning are considered favourable. Spring and the rainy season are considered conducive. Amavasya, Purnima, Ashtami, Chaturdashi and eclipse days are traditionally avoided. The period from the tenth to the twentieth day after menstruation begins is traditionally considered suitable. The couple may pray to their chosen deity before conception.
Along with traditional guidance, it is important to understand the woman's menstrual cycle and fertile window. Conception brings together tradition, nature and biology.
Cycle length and ovulation timing vary from one woman to another. The same fixed calendar dates do not represent the fertile window for every couple.
Cycle tracking, signs of ovulation and medical guidance can help identify the fertile window. If periods are irregular or there is concern about ovulation, consult a gynaecologist rather than relying only on fixed calendar dates.
