Understand the Cause Without Blaming Yourself

Pregnancy may not happen immediately even after careful preparation and regular attempts. This does not necessarily mean that either partner has a major problem.

Conception depends on many biological factors. The cause may relate to the woman, the man, both partners or may remain unexplained.

Possible Factors in Women

Possible Factors in Women

Irregular menstrual cycles, problems with ovulation, PCOS or thyroid disorders, endometriosis, blocked or damaged fallopian tubes, certain uterine conditions, very high or very low body weight, and age-related changes in fertility.

Possible Factors in Men

Possible Factors in Men

Low sperm count, reduced sperm motility, problems with sperm quality, hormonal or other health conditions, difficulty with erection or ejaculation, and tobacco, alcohol, substance use or an irregular lifestyle.

Poor timing, strain between partners, long-term health conditions and some medicines may also affect the pregnancy-planning journey.

Stress can make the journey emotionally harder, but it is not the sole cause of every delay. Do not blame yourself or your partner.
